This underwater mural is painted both sides of a corridor at Inglehurst Infants School in Leicester. The walls are 17ft long and nearly 12ft high so we have kept the background nice and light with a waterline and blue sky at the top to stop it feeling too oppressive. The light floods in from a high window at the end of the corridor so we have painted the coral to sparkle and look as if it is catching this light. All of the sealife are identifiable as marine animals and there is a good variety of large creatures for impact and small creatures for children to hunt for.
This mural took about a week to complete and was finished with anti-graffiti varnish which keeps it well protected in this corridor area. The mural was also carried out in the school holidays as it would have taken much longer with the children about! We also painted two other corridors in this school with a jungle mural and a hot air balloon mural .
