This trompe l-oeil mural is on a large rear wall in a courtyard garden in Romford, Essex. We painted it completely freehand in less than 2 weeks and finished the mural with an exterior varnish that helps bring out the vibrant colours. The customer asked if we could include a little fox in the foreground as she has a wild one that visits every evening. Below is a slideshow showing the mural at it's different stages of painting.

-
We start by sketching out the rough design
-
We block in areas of colour, getting rid of as much white as we can
-
At the moment these are just all undercoats
-
Starting at the top we paint a gradiated sky with a distant tree line
-
We paint details in the trees and mirror the image in the lake
-
We work on the mid-ground trees, adding details as we go
-
The weeping willlows and their reflections are completed along withe the lake. We then work on the ballustrade and steps leading to the water
-
The ballustrade is finished and we paint the patio area, adding shadows as we go
-
The flowers in the foreground burst into life!
-
Once the mural is finished varnish is applied
-
The varnish really makes the colours sing!
