Yes, it's that time of year again when I spend three days on my feet, talking myself horse to hundreds if not thousands of potential clients. Our stand is right opposite the bandstand again so please come and say hello and have a look at my artwork while you listen to some soothing Oompah music!

http://kentshowground.co.uk/

Studio painting

This is just a quick note before I sit down for Sunday dinner to let you all know that I have been paing in my newly revamped studio. It has doubled in size and had a new, higher roof put on it and I have spent the past few days boarding out the interior so that I can mount the boards that I have been asked to paint.

Today I have put up the boards and started to paint them and there is just so much room to work that it is heaven. It is so much easier to paint a mural on a board when it is fixed to the wall rather than just leaning against a wall. For a start it doesn't warp or bend and it doesn't fall forward onto you which can be a hazard if you are not expecting it!

Artists in the Woods 2010

I spent a marvellous day in the woods last Sunday creating woodland art and sculptures alongside other local artists at The Old Gunpowder Works in Oare which is near Faversham.

It's a lovely little bit of woodland with some well defined paths, lakes and a little stream running through it. It used to have some big buildings there but they dramatically exploded back in 1916 (who'd have thought that making gunpowder could be so hazardous)!

I created a structure that grew up around a tree and then hung down in leafy medallions whilst Danielle made this beautilful ball out of vines.

The mural for Herne Bay Train Station that I painted way back in March has now been installed and was unveiled last week for all to see.

The two murals that I painted at Queenborough school are now all finished. It was lovely watching the children identifying themselves in the design and I think all the pupils and staff were really pleased with the results.

For more details on the finished murals click here.

My four weeks at Queenborough Primary School are nearing the end and the two murals are almost finished. Two newspaper reporters turned up yesterday to take some photos. They were from The Sheerness Times Guardian and the Sheppy Gazette so it will be a bit of local publicity, but many of the children who helped paint the murals will get to see their face in the papers.

Some of the children didn't have permission to be in the photo and Year 6 pupils were away on a school trip, but here are most of the children that helped paint the murals.

I have just taken a quick break from Queenborough School (I'm going to be there for about four weeks in all) to paint this colourful mural in a new-born baby's bedroom. I was pleased with the use of the Orange sky which gives it a pleasant sunset warmth and echoes the colour scheme of the rest of the room.

This is my own design of Mickey Mouse and his friends on the beach. Goofy is on the opposite wall with his camera.

This past week and for the next few weeks I am painting two murals at Queenborough Primary School on The Isle of Sheppey. I have two stairwells to decorate which have previously had murals painted on many years ago which I have to paint over. They weren't the worst murals in the world but they did make the stairwells quite dark and oppressive which I am going to avoid with the new paintings.

The old murals to be painted over.

The new design is created with the help of the pupils. The two murals will feature children playing in the playground and children learning in the classroom and a select few of the pupils will be helping me paint some of the details. Stay tuned for more developments.

This is a nice little simple mural after the mammoth undertaking in Bromley last week. It was painted in three days on a young boy's bedroom wall. (I also painted a tinkerbell on his sister's wall in that time)
